PIRATES, PETTICOATS AND PUFFY SLEEVES
(now through July 31)
What imagery is more dynamic than a hero in a flowing linen shirt crossing rapiers with a black-clad villain? Stories of men in tights and ladies in torn bodices have long provided artists with excellent opportunities for bravura work. What better way to showcase the illustrator's craft than by the skillful depiction of the abundant drapery and rich detail of historical costume?

Workshop: CREATING ART WITH HANOCH PIVEN
(July 8, 6:30pm)
Hanoch Piven, multiple award-winning illustrator, will lead a hands-on, collage workshop for anyone who wants to free their inner child. Piven's workshop will focus on the idea of playing intuitively with objects, maximizing trial-and-error and taking advantage of serendipity, which are all very useful tools to explore any creative medium. Piven is known for using ordinary objects to create striking celebrity portraits for clients such as Time, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The New York Times and Random House. Although we'll provide some junk for you to play with, attendees must bring their own ordinary objects to be able to work in-class.
$35 non-members, $20 members, $15 students (Limited to 50 people)
